Handling of personal data

Personal data is information that can be used to determine a natural person, ie information that identifies persons. This includes in particular names, e-mail
addresses, immatriculation numbers or telephone numbers. But also data about preferences, hobbies, memberships or information about websites that have been visited are personal data.

Personal data will only be collected, used and disclosed by us if legally permitted or if the user has consented to the data collection.

The use of personal data of students for the purpose of study is based largely on the applicable Hessian Higher Education Act in conjunction with the applicable
Enrollment Ordinance of the State of Hessen and thus refer to EU GDPR Article 6 Paragraph 1 c).

The data of the employees of the Goethe-University collected and processed for the purposes of personnel administration, teaching, research and examination activities are based on the Hessian Higher Education Act, the Enrollment Ordinance of the State of Hesse, TV-GU, civil service law and personnel law regulations.

Google Analytics

If you have given your consent, Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”) is used on this website. The use includes the “Universal Analytics” operating mode. The data sent by us and linked to cookies, user-identifiers (e.g. User-IDs) or advertising-identifiers are automatically deleted after 14 months. Data whose retention period has been reached is automatically deleted once a month.

Rights of the Persons affected

You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by blocking the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functionalities of this website to their full extent.

When contacting members of the Goethe-University (for example by contact form or email) your data will be stored for the purpose of processing the request as well as in case of follow-up questions arise. After processing your request or after fulfilling the legal obligation or the service being used, the data will be deleted unless the retention of the data is required for the implementation of legitimate interests of the Goethe-University or on the basis of a legal regulation (e.g. law, legal decree, statutes of Goethe-University, etc.).
